Many of our projects aim to prevent illness or promote good health. We initially supported work in orphanages in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, giving money to provide eye and hearing tests and improve dental hygiene.
In Nepal, almost half the population live in poverty and about one third live without clean water. We helped suply water filters to ten orphanages which give clean water which helps prevent typhoid and cholera.
85% of Nepalese do not have health care access. In our first year we raised funds to allowed 500 orphans to be inoculated against life threatening illnesses.
We also helped buy agricultural land to grow vegetables to provide orphans with the nutritious food they need, which also helps to prevent the need for the children to beg for food.
